Day 1 ld Lake Champlain - Adirondacks
Depart Home early since we have so much to do. Travel directly to Saratoga Springs, New York where you will have a brief driving tour of this historic late 1800s village. If there is time, you may “take the waters” if you like. Time to get to the “station” as your First Class Amtrak Train #69 “The Adirondack” arrives at the Saratoga Springs station. “All Aboard!” Final destination of this International train is Montreal. A Box Luncheon is included on your train served at your seat. We are headed north, not quite as far as Montreal.
You wlll travel along the banks of the Champlain Canal, past Fort Ticonderoga and into the village of Whitehall.....and you will learn about each of these towns along the way and the part that they played in our War for Independence.....the Revolutionary War. History, geology, FUN, and “Champ”. You will hear about it all as you travel along the shores of our “6th Great Lake”, Lake Champlain.
Wow, and it is only early afternoon! We now head up into the mountains to explore Lake Placid, and the Adirondacks, Yes, your AMTRAK train will stop in Westport, New York at the restored historic station. We arrive in Lake Placid in time for a Guided Tour of this lovely Olympic Village. A Lake Cruise is also included (time permitting). Dinner is included plus time to stroll the main street or along lovely Mirror Lake to enjoy the boutiques and quite mountain beauty. Your hotel is right in town.
Day 2 bd Lake Placid - Saranac Lake
After breakfast we start our Adirondack adventure with a scenic Train Ride to Saranac Lake, and then on to Raquette Lake with a lake cruise, then visit Sagamore one of the “Great Camps” a wilderness mansion retreat of the wealthy from the 1800s. Simply spectacular! The Adirondack Museum is next with a wonderful overview of life in the mountains from the early Native Americans to the fur trappers and settlers. One of the finest museum collections in the world says “National Geographic Magazine”.
We return to our hotel for dinner. *exact sequence subject to change
Day 3 bl*c Lake George Cruise & Train
Full breakfast first, then we head south to *North Creek and a train ride along the banks of the Hudson River where it is still quite primitive. Rustic country villages. Next on to Lake George “Queen of American Lakes” where you will enjoy a Cruise on Lake George complete with historic narration.

A hearty breakfast starts the day, then a guided tour of the Historic Plattsburgh area. Our motorcoach then boards a ferry boat for the ride to South Hero Island, Vermont. Driving through the bucolic countryside, we arrive at the summer home of the Royal Lipizzan Stallions, and a show/demonstration of their fantastic abilities. Dinner is included tonight.
Day 4 bl*c Lake George Luncheon Cruise

Depart Home early since we have so much to do. Travel directly to Saratoga Springs, New York where you will have a brief driving tour of this historic late 1800s village. If there is time, you may “take the waters” if you like.
Time to get to the “station” as your First Class Amtrak Train #69 “The Adirondack” arrives at the Saratoga Springs station. “All Aboard!” Final destination of this International train is Montreal but we will be getting off in the mid-Lake Champlain and Adirondacks area. We are headed north, but not quite as far as Montreal.

You will travel along the banks of the Champlain Canal, past Fort Ticonderoga and into the village of Whitehall.....and you will learn about each of these towns along the way and the part that they played in our War for Independence.....the Revolutionary War. History, geology, FUN, and “Champ”. You will hear about it all as you travel along the shores of our “6th Great Lake”, Lake Champlain.

Wow, and it is only afternoon! After a scenic AMTRAK train ride, we will meet our coach at the Westport, New York AMTRAK station, and take the coach on the ferry across majestic Lake Champlain to Vermont. Still time for a tour of the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. Also we will stop (time and daylight permitting) at the fabulous Kennedy Brothers store in Vergennes. Just about everything you can imagine is for sale here from crafts to collectible and antiques. Great place for gifts for yourself or a special person or holidays. Hey! You might even see some of your family stuff for sale here, before we settle down for the night in the Burlington area. What a Great Day!

A hearty breakfast first, then we will head into the mountains for our first stop of the day.....the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, the largest producer of apple cider in New England. Next we will be treated to a drive thru the Stowe, Vermont resort area and stop for a visit and/or luncheon at the historic (and wonderful) Trapp Family Lodge*. We will relax here before we head down, off the mountain and south on Route 100 with a visit to the Lake Champlain Chocolate shop which combines with Cabot Cheese for a delightful taste of Vermont. Of course, we must also stop at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory for a tour and tasting (subject to availability). On to our hotel.....time to relax

Of course, we must also stop at Ben & Jerry’s ice Cream Factory for a tour and tasting (subject to availability). On to our hotel with time to relax in the indoor pool if you are so inclined.
Day 3 bttd Rutland - Home
Breakfast first, then we will do 3 of the following: the New England Maple Sugar Museum...next the Vermont Marble Museum. So much to see! Our final visit today is the Wilson Castle mansion, a mid-19th Century architectural masterpiece located on a 115 acre estate. This afternoon we either board AMTRAK Train The Ethan Allen Express or take our motorcoach back into New York at Whitehall at the southern tip of Lake Champlain. We will travel along and see the locks of the Champlain Canal, connecting Canada and New York City. This completes our circle of Lake Champlain. Sure haven’t missed much!

Wow, and it is only early afternoon! We continue along the majestic lake shore to Westport NY or the city of Plattsburgh, when we say good bye to our Amtrak train crew, check into our hotel, home for the next 2 nights. Early dinner, then board the ferry for the short trip to Vermont and the home of the Royal Lipizzan Stallions. After the fascinating show, we head back to our hotel for a good night’s rest.
Day 2 bcd Lake Placid - Sagamore - Cruise
After breakfast we start our Adirondack adventure with a drive thru the mountains to The Adirondack Museum with a wonderful overview of life in the mountains from the early Native Americans to the fur trappers and settlers. One of the finest museum collections in the world says “National Geographic Magazine”. Next on to Raquette Lake with a lake cruise, then visit Sagamore one of the “Great Camps” a wilderness mansion retreat of the wealthy from the 1800s. Simply spectacular! We arrive in Lake Placid in time to stroll the main street or along lovely Mirror Lake to enjoy the boutiques and quiet mountain beauty. Dinner is included *exact sequence subject to change
Day 3 bs(lc) Lake George Luncheon Cruise
Breakfast starts the day, then a guided tour of the Historic Plattsburgh area. A short stop to view the magnificent Ausable Chasm, Grand Canyon of the East, then on to one of the most beautiful lakes anywhere, Lake George, “Queen of American Lakes”. Delicious, hearty Luncheon Cruise with entertainment and historic narration. Time to visit the shops in Lake George Village, then head homeward. Fantastic Tour!
